Hairspray Sequel in the works?

 Poof up your pompadours and put on your dancing shoes: Last year's musical hit Hairspray is one bop closer toward a sequel. "We just got an outline and some ideas from John Waters, and now we're going out to writers," director Adam Shankman tells EW exclusively. The story will follow Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky) and her pals as they navigate the "next era of music," the late '60s. "That period was superpolitical," Shankman adds, "it was a time of serious change." No kidding: According to the filmmaker, heartthrob Link (Zac Efron) will channel his inner Austin Powers and become steeped in the British Invasion. "We're trying to track, in a comedic way, the historical elements."

David Cassidy tells Zac Efron to "Stay Grounded"

"All I can say to Zac is that as long as he does good work, doesn't lose his mind and stays grounded as a human being, he'll be fine," Cassidy, 58, tells Britain's Daily Mail as he is about to embark upon a U.K. concert tour.
"But he'd better fasten his seatbelt because it's going to be a very bumpy ride."
With hair thinning and a few wrinkles to reflect the passage of time, Cassidy nonetheless is still recognizable as the onetime pinup boy whose posters were splayed across bedrooms on both sides of the Atlantic. This time, however, his visit to Britain isn't being punctuated by the screams of thousands of hysterical girls surrounding his hotel.
Still, as Cassidy points out, the secret to longevity in show business isn't merely about having an adoring public. Rather, "it's … about the talent, and never about how many fans or photographers you've got outside your home."

 Zac Efron rocks out a Keema Megabucks t-shirt while filling up his Audi S6 at a Mobil gas station in Toluca Lake, Calif., on Saturday afternoon.
While his gas was pumping, the 21-year-old High School Musical star was seen twirling around his car keys and sending messages on his iPhone.
The night before at a Lakers game, Zac met one of his idols, actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

 Zac Efron puts on his best plaid shirt as he chums it up with Leonardo DiCaprio at Friday's L.A. Lakers Game against the Denver Nuggets at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. (The Lakers won!)
The 21-year-old High School Musical hottie, who recently made People's 2008 Sexiest Men List, talked last month about how he admires Leo and fellow Hollywood leading man, Johnny Depp. He shared, "I would love to just sit down and talk with Leonardo DiCaprio and Johnny Depp and pick their brains about their early careers. They do it because they love it, not because they enjoy being famous."
Also spotted with Zac and Leo at their courtside seats was Entourage star Kevin Connelly and Maroon 5's Adam Levine.

Michelle Trachtenberg: Zac Efron's My Daddy

 Gossip Girl's Michelle Trachtenberg is wanting to wear a t-shirt to the premiere of her upcoming movie, 17 Again, that reads 'Zac Efron's My Daddy', reports US Magazine.
The 23-year-old starlet spilled to the magazine at a recent event that she has the urge to wear the garment but then claims that Zac's girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens probably wouldn't like it too much. She also shared that the idea of Zac, 21, being her father is "hysterical."
17 Again is the story about a guy, Mike O'Donnell (played by Zac Efron and Matthew Perry), whose life didn't quite turn out how he wanted it to and wishes he could go back to high school and change it. Michelle plays the role of the daughter, Maggie O'Donnell.
The film is set to hit theaters in April 2009.

Brennan Hillard Spoofs Zac Efron

Newcomer Brennan Hillard (right) will be playing "Zack" in the upcoming comedy, Dance Flick. (Yes, an obvious spoof of Zac Efron).
Dance Flick is a parody film directed by Damien Wayans, written by his uncles, the Wayans Brothers, and starring Shawn and Marlon Wayans. The film unabashedly spoofs mega-hit dance movies including Save The Last Dance, Hairspray and High School Musical.
This will the first feature film for Brennan, 18. The official movie poster even mimicks the movie poster for 2001's Save the Last Dance, which starred Julia Stiles.
